What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose Veins are twisted and swollen vein in the legs, that lie just underneath the skin. They may be red, blue and purple in color. Veins contain one-way valves to ensure that the blood flows towards the heart.
If the valves are weak or damaged, blood can backup and overload the pressure on the veins. This excess pressure created causes widening of veins leading to varicose veins.
